March 29, 2017, by a vote of 215 to 205, the House of Representatives voted to strip privacy safeguards from people who use the internet. On Monday April 3, 2017 President Trump signed the bill into law.

Now ISPs, the companies that connect people to the internet, will be able to collect and sell information about users without permission.

What does this mean for the future?
